In Zurich and Geneva, a rail terminal is integrated into the airport. In Basel there is a direct bus line no. 50 from the airport to Basel SBB main train station. All trains run every half hour, and the journey to Bern takes:

  • Zurich Airport – Bern train station: 1 hour 15 min.
  • EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Fribourg – Bern railway station: 1 hour 30 min.
  • Geneva Airport – Bern railway station: just under 2 hours

Train tickets can be purchased at ticket vending machines, SBB-Webshop or the SBB-App. Timetables and departures are easily accessible via the SBB-Website or via the SBB-App. Seat reservations are not necessary in Switzerland.

Getting around Bern:

Bern has an extensive public transport network with numerous tram and bus lines. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket vending machines at the stops, at the BERNMOBIL shop in Bern’s railway station or via the SBB-App. In addition to normal tickets and multi-trip tickets, BERNMOBIL also offers tickets for short rides (just a few stops) at a lower price.

Bern is bike friendly! There are many bike rental or bike sharing options. For example, "Rent a Bike" is a rental service and "PubliBike" is a bike sharing system.
