Research at the TKI is focused on CNS immunity with a special focus on the role of the brain barriers in maintaining CNS immune privilege and in neuroinflammatory diseases like multiple sclerosis and stroke or in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. We employ cutting-edge in vitro and in vivo live cell imaging and have developed novel in vitro models for the brain barriers.
